The NYSE Stock Abstraction is a program designed to take data from the New York Stock Exchange with the intention of abstracting that data over a time interval of 5 minutes. The intention of this screen based installation is to beautify a system that may seem complex and intimidating to the common person. The data itself is shown visually as a bar graph, displaying the price of the index in the center of the image. This data is then scaled to fit the image based on minimum and maximum values of that given time. Green bars show swings of positive or increased value while decreases are shown in red. The frame of the image is bordered with data shown by the volume of trades during this time period. The data is abstracted by an algorithm that changes the angle of every line within the graph randomly based on time. Every 5 minutes the program then takes in new data from the NYSE and begins again from that point.
